EU not keen on quitting the Iranian nuclear deal, expert in Iran says
Despite certain internal issues and external challenges Iran face, the country’s leverage has notable grown both in the region and in the international arena, expert in Iran Armen Israyelyan wrote on Facebook, commenting on recent developments around the Iranian nuclear deal and the U.S. administration voiced concerns, casting doubt on the legal basis of the agreement.
In Israyelyan’s words, the meetings of Iranian President Hasan Rouhani with number of heads of the leading European countries, including France, Austria, Belgium, Sweden, Norway as well as Japan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, showed the EU is not keen on reversing the nuclear agreement instead discusses opportunities to bolster economic ties with the Islamic Republic.
“As to the U.S. President Trump’s UN address, it received the Iranian FM’s tough response and it is expected that during today’s address President Hasan Rouhani will formulate a comprehensive response on behalf of Iran,” Israyelyan wrote.
