Deputy FM: Talks are simply a cover for Azerbaijan to build up its military power
“It is a common knowledge that the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is stalled for one single reason: Azerbaijan acts against the international law and the calls and appeals by the mediator countries – the U.S. Russia and France,” Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said on Wednesday, at the closing of 6th Pan-Armenian Armenia-Diaspora Conference underway in Yerevan, Armenia.
Mr. Kocharyan noted that Azerbaijan showed its true face in 2016, which was already known by the Armenian side.
“The negotiation process is simply a cover for Azerbaijan to build up its military power and to continue pursuing the policy of war propaganda and lies,” he said, adding the 2016 April war was the renewal of the 1990 aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan.
He reminded that the 1994 agreement is a document about halting the military operations, however the 2016 April flare-up was nothing more than an obvious re-launch of the military operations.
“Azerbaijan once again acted as an aggressor, committing numerous flagrant violations of humanitarian law,” the official said, adding that they will continue submitting the documents on those violations to the international organizations and institutions.
