Yerevan Open: 27 players lead the table with 100% score after Round 2
Round 2 of Yerevan Open international chess tournament took place on Wednesday at Chess Academy of Armenia. As official website of the tournament reported, the top seed of the tournament GM Melkumyan Hrant, playing white, did not manage to win his game against Vardanyan Hayk. GMs Hovhannisyan Robert, Rozum Ivan, Ter-Sahakyan Samvel, Gabuzyan Hovhannes also could not outplay their opponents. The biggest upset of the round was victory of WIM Ghukasyan Siranush toward IM Hakobyan Aram. Heavy favorites of the tournament – Onischuk Vladimir, Petrosian Tigran L., Andriasian Zaven, Pashikian Arman, Aleksandrov Aleksej, Minasian Artashes and Martirosyan Haik M. celebrated their second victories.
Member of Armenian women national team IM Mkrtchyan Lilit took second victory and is among 27 leaders of the tournament. Member of women national team WGM Kursova Maria made a draw against GM Kotanjian Tigran. The other member WIM Gevorgyan Maria lost to GM Korneev Oleg. After first round’s defeat IM Petrosyan Manuel won his first game.
After second round 27 players are leading the table with 100% score. 21 chess players are behind the leaders with a half point, the source said.
