Armenian duduk master Djivan Gasparyan awarded 1st Degree Medal for Services to Homeland
On the 26th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia, President Serzh Sargsyan bestowed the 1st Degree Medal for Services to Homeland upon renowned Armenian duduk player Djivan Gasparyan for his valuable contribution to the development of the music field, long-term dedication, as well as a worthy presentation of the Armenian culture in the world.
“I have always attached special value to the awards received in my fatherland. I congratulate us all on the Independence Day. Independence is the best thing ever,” Mr. Gasparyan, who has received 21 awards from different countries worldwide, told the reporters on Thursday.
Armenian composer Martin Vardazaryan was also awarded with the 1st Degree Medal for Services to Homeland for his considerable contribution to the field of music.
To note, upon another decree by President Sargsyan, composer Robert Amirkhanyan was granted the Order of Honor. The president also signed decrees, awarding artistic director and chief conductor of the Armenian State Academic Choir, Hovhannes Chekijian and actor Rafael Kotanjyan with the 1st Degree Medal for Services to Homeland.
