Nalbandian reveals agenda topics of the upcoming meeting with Mammadyarov
“Some quotes and comments were taken out of the context. I spoke of the three known principles and six provisions embedded in the Presidents’ statements of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries that were drafted and presented to the parties and are viewed as a whole. The attempts to prioritize one over the other will make conflict settlement impossible,” Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian told an interview to Voice of America Armenian service.
Nalbandian was asked to comment on his recent statement made on the sidelines of the Armenia-Diaspora Pan-Armenian conference about the “return of territories that will not endanger the resolution of the conflict.”
“As the President stressed during his UN address, the primary issue remains the status of Artsakh. If the issue of status is solved, remaining issues will find their logical and fair solution, since those remaining issues are collateral,” Edward Nalbandian added, reiterating the Armenian position that the full settlement is possible only with the participation of Nagorno Karabakh.
Nalbandian also commented on the agenda topics of the upcoming meeting with Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov that will take place on September 23 in the margins of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In Nalbandian’s words, the meeting will address the Co-Chairs’ proposal for a high-level between the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan as well as the timetable of the co-chairmen’s visit to the region.
