OSCE Minsk Group not dealing with conflict settlement for a long time now, Alexander Iskandaryan says
No significant changes should be expected from the Nagorno Karabakh settlement process, the Head of “Caucasus” Institute, political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan told a press conference on Monday.
“The OSCE Minsk Group has not dealt with the conflict settlement for a long time now, instead working mostly to prevent the violence at the border. Discussions about the monitors and control mechanisms are aimed at containment of the violence not the conflict settlement itself. The violence decreased to compare with the previous year, yet new military actions are not ruled out,” Iskandaryan said.
The political scientist deems necessary to keep the negotiation process on to demonstrate the process continues. “The presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet sooner or later, yet no results are expected,” added Iskandaryan.
