Parliament official: Giving religious nuance to Karabakh conflict by Azerbaijan should be condemned by CSTO PA
Deputy Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly (NA) Eduard Sharmazanov, who is in Saint Petersburg on a working visit, on Monday held a meeting with Piotr Ryabukhin, Secretary-in-Charge of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation Parliamentary Assembly (CSTO PA), in Tavrischeskiy (Tauride) Palace.
In the course of the meeting, issues concerning the organisational works for the upcoming session of the CSTO PA Council were discussed. The sides stressed with satisfaction the active participation of the Armenian delegation in the CSTO PA works, reports the NA press service.
Eduard Sharmazanov presented the military-political situation in the region, noting that Azerbaijan continues remaining a threat for the regional security and stability.
“Azerbaijan's leadership has for many years been openly propagating Armenophobia in an attempt to give religious nuance to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We condemn the racist policy of Azerbaijan’s leadership, considering inadmissible the attempts to add religious nuance to the problem. The conflict must be resolved exclusively through peaceful negotiations, having as a key the complete realization of the Artsakh people’s right to self-determination,” he said.
The NA Permanent Representative to the IPA CIS Hayk Chilingaryan also attended the meeting.
