Electricity export growing in Armenia
The volumes of electricity export in Armenia increased around 9.9% percent in the first eight months of the current year. A total of 955 million kWh of electricity was produced, which exceeded the indicator of the previous year by 87 million kWh.
As the ministry of energy resources and Infrastructure reported, the Iranian market represents the primary market of Armenian electricity, while the electricity export to Georgia has also resumed with some 116 million kWh of electricity exported to the neighboring country. In the same period of the last year no deliveries were made to that direction. According to the source, this was due to the agreement on mutual power interflows between Armenia and Georgia signed between "Energoimpex" CJSC and “Global International Energy” which allowed to optimize the energy producing and consuming regimes in Armenia.
Meanwhile, Armenia delivered 805 million kWh electricity to Iran in Jan-Sept 2017 with expected 20% increase in export till the end of the year.
It is noted that for the indicated period 1.4 million kWh of electricity was consumed in the domestic market, constituting a 7,2% increase to compare with the last year indicators.
