“The development of military industry in Armenia is a priority direction. This year we have introduced new military equipment into the combat guard which are developed and produced in Armenia and are very important for the efficient conduct of the combat service,” Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan told reporters at a press conference on Monday.

In the minister’s words the equipment is advantageous not only in terms of their low price due to the local production but also has no analogues in the market.

“I think that is also the first step toward our main objective to turn military production into a driving force behind our economy, focusing on the concept of the export,” the minister said, adding those innovative arms designs have all the chances to attract the international market not as merely arms but also position Armenia as a country exporting high technological, innovative equipment.

With this regard Vigen Sargsyan stressed the importance of the full utilization of the country’s scientific potential for the development of the military industry in general.
