The signing of the Armenia-EU new framework agreement may turn into the main achievement of the Brussels Summit – FM Nalbandian
Armenia enjoys close relations with the European Union and looks to expand the comprehensive cooperation across all spheres of mutual interest, Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian stated on Monday at a joint press conference with EU Commissioner on Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hans.
“The European Union offers valuable assistance to the reforms implemented in our country, supports Armenia’s effort in the areas of the protection of human rights, the rule of law, strengthening of democratic institutions, the judicial system as well as promotes efficient governance in Armenia,” the minister said.
He reminded that the new framework agreement between the RA and the EU "Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement" (CEPA) was pre-signed, adding the signing of the agreement in November may turn into the main achievement of the Brussels Summit.
Minister Nalbandian pointed to the EU’s long-standing policy of encouraging human contacts that occupies an important place in the Armenia-EU agenda. “The liberation of visa regime is one of the important components of mobility and facilitating human contacts which is envisaged by the Vilnius and Riga Declarations,” added the minister.
Nalbandian next noted the Armenia-Eu bilateral agenda is supplemented by some new prospective areas of cooperation, the expansion of the Trans-European Transport Network, suggestions on harmonizing roaming services in the EU space and territories of the Eastern Neighborhood, funding of medium-sized enterprises, among other things.
“I am confident our partnership will be replenished with new mutually beneficial programs,” stressed FM Nalbandian.
