Yerevan hosts Armenian-Czech Business Forum
On the sidelines of the visit of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Milan Štěch, an Armenian-Czech Business Forum was held in Armenia Marriott Hotel on Wednesday, in attendance of National Assembly (NA) Vice Speaker, Head of the NA Armenia-Czech Republic Friendship Group Eduard Sharmazanov and President of the Czech Senate Milan Štěch.
Eduard Sharmazanov delivered opening remarks at the forum, highlighting the effective development of the Armenian-Czech economic and business ties in recent years, as evidenced by over 60% growth in goods turnover in 2017, the press service of the parliament reported.
“Armenia is the only EEU country, which has GSP+ system with the EU countries, which gives an opportunity to enhance the trade turnover, the economic ties with the EU countries, including with the Czech Republic. Yes, we are the inseparable part of the EEU, but it is not an obstacle in developing the economic relations with the EU countries,” Sharmazanov underlined.
Noting that the development of the Armenian-Czech economic relations is a priority for our country, the Armenian official underlined with satisfaction the fact that numerous Czech companies actively work in Armenia, with the Armenian businessmen working in the Czech Republic.
Wishing the participants of the forum effective work, the NA Vice Speaker assured that the Armenian lawmakers together with the Czech parliamentarians will do their best to boost the economic relations.
In his welcoming remarks, the President of the Czech Senate Milan Štěch also underscored that the political dialogue between the two countries and the economic ties positively develop and expressed hope that after signing the Armenia-EU new framework agreement in November the relations between the two countries will further deepen.
The forum also addressed issues on the perspectives of the development of the bilateral investment and business ties.
