National Museum in Tehran to exhibit Armenia's Urartu relics
An estimated 100 ancient artifacts from Armenia will be on display at the National Museum of Iran from October 17-January 17.
The artifacts taken from then the History Museum of Armenia date back to prehistoric times, from the 3rd millennium BC to the first century BC, Director of the museum Grigor Grigoryan told Panorama.am.
The exhibition held under the banner of ‘Iran and Armenia: Memory of a Realm’ focus on those artifacts that hint at the civilization of Urartu.
The director said they had chosen the relics, afterwards discussing them with the Iranian side.
“Some 100 relics from the National Museum of Iran will also go on display at the exhibition. There are Urartian archeological sites known in Iran as well and they will display their artifacts in parallel,” he said.
Grigor Grigoryan will depart for Iran to attend the opening of the exhibition.
The event is held in the scope of a memorandum signed between Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization and Armenia’s Ministry of Culture.
