Armenia celebrates Librarian Day on Oct. 7
Librarian Day is one of the official professional holidays in Armenia. Celebrated on October 7, it was officially included into the list of professional observances in 2004, according to the decision of the Armenian Government.
This year the Ministry of Culture is implementing a project titled “Life with Books” on the day, the ministry told Panorama.am.
The main goals of the Librarian Day in Armenia are to emphasize the importance of reading and libraries, to promote the reading and to create more favourable environment in libraries for the readers.
A total of 298 events are scheduled at 130 libraries taking part in the Librarian Day celebrations. The program features presentation of recently released books, meetings with authors, as well as book exhibitions sales.
The libraries will also hold festive events honoring distinguished librarians.
This year, nine libraries from Artsakh participate in the celebrations.
