“Super David” educational e-Game officially launched
Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) hosted on Tuesday the official launching event of “Super David” educational e-game, which was developed in the frames of cooperation between the World Bank Group, RA MES, the RA MES Crisis Management State Academy and Dasaran Educational program.
According to the MES release, the project was made possible with the financial support of the “Japan-World Bank Program for Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Management in Developing Countries” (of Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR)).
MES Minister Davit Tonoyan, Country Manager of the World Bank for Armenia, Sylvie K. Bossoutrot, H.E. Eiji Taguchi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia, Founding President of Dasaran Educational Program, Suren Aloyan, several teachers, school students and other guests were in attendance.
“Super David” - the new educational game on Dasaran’s electronic platform, is aimed to strengthen disaster risks preparedness among younger generations through innovative experiential learning, empowering school-aged children and communities, in general, with knowledge, skills and attitudes on the local environment and on how to reduce risks, promoting the culture of security and right behavioral norms during emergency situations, as well as encouraging informed and helping children.
Minister Tonoyan delivered a welcome speech, highlighting the important idea of developing a culture of security, and stated that with this game students will get new skills on how to orientate and act fast in various situations, thereby earning an invaluable award – a guarantee of a safe and secure life. “I am very pleased to see the outcomes of this efficient partnership. I am sure that this project will help to build a society ready to cope with disaster-related challenges,” stated in his speech H.E. Eiji Taguchi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia.
The Founding President of Dasaran Educational Program Suren Aloyan expressed gratitude to all the project implementation partners and supporters, and mentioned that the game is accessible on Dasaran Educational Platform and is available to all the one million registered users (students, parents and teachers) of Dasaran, and is also accessible to the larger public through Facebook.
A group of school students attending the event also had a short tour at the premises of the MES, enthusiastically discovering a new world of safety and security.
