Armenian Government exempts electric cars from import, property taxes
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan turned to the imports of electric cars to Armenia, as well as the issue of exempting them from taxes, duties and property taxes at today’s Cabinet session.
The PM noted that pursuant to the current regulations, several types of payments and taxes are imposed on imports of electric cars to Armenia.
Taking into account the fact that electric vehicles are a more environmentally friendly option, as well as the need to boost their imports volumes, Mr. Karapetyan tasked the ministers of international economic integration and reforms, economic development and investments, finance and nature protection, as well as the president of the State Revenue Committee to study the possibility of making amendments in the legislation. The officials are tasked to submit relevant proposals within one month.
