Armenian chess players took second and third places at European Youth Gran Prix
The 2nd leg of European Youth Gran Prix series took place in Jermuk, in Armenia, from 3rd- 16th October, attended by 12 young players from Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania, Norway, Belarus, and Armenia. Our country was represented by Aram Hakobyan, Shant Sargsyan, and Mamikon Gharibyan.
As the National Olymic Committee reported, medalist of the European and World Youth Chess Championships Kirill Shevchenko of Ukraine was named the winner of the tournament scoring 10 points out of 11. The Champion of Armenian men’s chess championship and medalist on European and World Youth Championships Sargsyan Shant took the second place with 8,5 points, while Aram Hakobyan won a bronze medal with 7.5 points.
