Minister: Around 7300 more jobs will be created in Armenia in 2017
In the first half of 2017, the volumes of the foreign investments inflow in the real sector of the economy amounted to around US $1.024 million, the direct investments comprised over US $328 million, indicating a 36.6% and 26.3% increase respectively against the same period of 2016, an Armenian minister told a news conference on Wednesday.
According to Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan, more than 200 investment programs subject to discussions have been collected from the private sector, branch ministries and as a result of the prime minister’s regional visits. Some 40 programs, which require foreign investments, have been translated and presented abroad.
The prime minister hosted discussions on 108 programs, with 377 million AMD allocated by the “SME investments” UCO CJSC for 14 investment programs.
Meantime the ministry has presented 70 investment programs, which are currently at various stages of implementation. Based on the implementation of the programs, investments worth around US $493 million will be made in 2017 and nearly 7300 new jobs will be created.
“The monitoring of the eight months of the current year shows nearly US $250 million worth investments have been made, 3200 new jobs have been created, over 800 of which – in Yerevan,” the minister detailed.
