PM Karapetyan: We want to have a competitive, advanced nation
Armenia has an extremely good opportunity to boost its development, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said in his opening remarks at the international workshop “Machine Learning for Discovery Sciences”, jointly organized by the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST) and US National Science Foundation (NSF).
Welcoming the participants of the workshop, PM Karapetyan thanked the organizers of the event, as well as the guests for visiting Armenia and their willingness to share their experience with Armenian experts.
The prime minister noted the FAST can assume the role of an integrator together with its partners, thus fostering collaborations between top international centers of science and technology and Armenian scientists.
According to him, today the world is going through the fourth industrial revolution phase: information technologies, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and innovative methods of renewable energy, playing a key role in advancing the world. “I am convinced those states will succeed which will quickly adapt to the new situation and will become innovators,” he added.
The top Armenian official stated the Government is ready to support the creation of the necessary ecosystems and innovation campuses across Armenia to ensure modern, technological and knowledge-based development.
“All of us, the Government, the individuals of Armenia and Diaspora, who are united in FAST, are guided by a single goal – to have a competitive and advanced nation, securing a place for Armenia on a global level,” he added.
The workshop has brought together more than 200 researchers in Data Science and related disciplines. It aims to become a platform for communication and future cooperation between young researchers, doctorate students and the leading specialists in the mentioned disciplines.
