Armenia sees 5.1% growth in economic activity in nine months: statistics
The economic activity index (EAI) of Armenia grew 5.1% in January-September 2017 against same period of 2016, according to the data released by Armenia’s National Statistical Service (NSS).
As the NSS statistics show, the index rose by 10.1% in September compared to August of the ongoing year, Panorama.am reports.
The utmost growth was registered in the industry sphere in the indicated period. Namely, in January-September of this year, the industrial production volume grew by 11.9%, increasing by 4.3% compared to the same period of the previous year and 8.3% to compare with the production volume of August 2017.
Electricity production sphere also saw an increase amounting for 6.5%. Compared to January-September 2016, this year the service volume (excluding the trade) rose by 12.8%.
The trade turnover increased by 12.5% within nine months of 2017 compared to the same period of 2016. The consumer prices, according to the NSS statistics, also increased by 0.6% compared to January-September 2016.
The gross agricultural output decreased by 9.9% in January-September 2017 against the same period of 2016.
The construction volumes also saw decline by 6.4% for the indicated period.
As for the external trade turnover, it rose by 21.7 % in January-September 2017, with the exports growing by 19.1% and imports by 23.2%.
According to the NSS data, the average monthly salary in Armenia rose by 2.4 % and the average annual wage by 2% in January-September 2017.
