The ruling GDDG candidates win elections in Samtskhe-Javakheti
The ruling Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia (GDDG) candidates have secured an outright victory in the first round in all municipalities, except in Borjomi, Kazbegi, Khashuri, Martvili, and Ozurgeti, according to preliminary results of the October 21 municipal elections held in Georgia.
Akhaltskha.net reported, that the all the candidates of the ruling party secured victories in Samtskhe-Javakheti’s five regions with Zaza Melikidze (69.24%) in Akhaltskha, Yuri Ananyan (58.62%) – in Akhalkalak, Anivard Mosoyan (75.35%) – in Ninotsminda, Zakaria Endeladze (60.51%) – in Adigeni, and Rostom Makraqvelidze (56.4%) - in Aspindza.
According to the preliminary results, 6 Armenian majoritarian candidates were elected to Akhaltskha Mayoral Council.
There has been a tight race in Borjomi, with GDDG’s Levan Lipartia obtaining 40.54% and Zaza Chachanidze of the Alliance of Patriots - 40.23%. According to the electoral code, the runoffs in Borjomi and other five constituencies will be held before November 15, no later than the 25th day after the first round of elections.
