Russian soldier commits suicide after killing fellow serviceman in Armenia
A Russian contract soldier has committed suicide after fatally wounding a fellow serviceman in the Russian 102nd military base in Armenia’s Gyumri city.
According to a statement from Russia’s Southern Military District, the incident took place at Alagyaz shooting range on Monday.
“Following the military exercises, he grossly violated the safety requirements, accidentally opening fire from an assault rifle, inflicting a fatal gunshot wound to another contract soldier. He later shot himself dead, afraid of the accountability for the incident,” RIA Novosti reported, adding the Southern Military District’s commission is working on the site to uncover the details of the incident.
