Armenia’s crime, murder rates on the decline in nine months, official says
The grave and especially grave crime rates have reduced by 18.3% and 11.4% (18 cases) respectively in Armenia within nine months of this year against the same period of the past year, according to the figures released by Ashot Aharonyan, Head of the Public Relations and Press Department of the Armenian Police.
According to the official, the downward trends are mainly prompted by the decrease in murder, brigandage and house theft.
The statistics released on Facebook show in nine months murder was down to 37 cases from 59, with murder attempts reduced to 21 from 26.
The period also saw decline in cases of intentional infliction of harm to health (859-840), crimes against sexual inviolability (97-78), house theft (922-567), brigandage (43-23), robbery (189-131), vehicle theft (37-33), hooliganism (146-145) and violation of traffic rules which causes fatalities (126-125).
