Parliament honors the memory of the October 27 crime victims with one-minute silence
The Armenian National Assembly continued today the work of the four-day sittings. Before passing to the legislative work the deputies in one-minute silence honored the memory of the political figures, who fell victims on October 27, 1999.
The National Assembly Speaker Ara Babloyan particularly said: “Dear deputies, today is the 18th anniversary of the October tragedy. On October 27, 1999 the Speaker of the National Assembly Karen Demirchyan, the Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, the Deputy Speakers of the National Assembly Yuri Bakhsyan and Ruben Miroyan, the Minister on Operative Issues Leonard Petrosyan, the deputies Armenak Armenakyan, Henrik Abrahamyan and Mikayel Kotanyan fell victims of the crime committed in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.”
At the suggestion of the Speaker the lawmakers next honored the memory of the crime victims with one-minute silence.
To note, the October 27 was a terrorist attack on the Armenian National Assembly in the capital Yerevan on October 27, 1999, by a group of armed men that, among others, killed high-level officials, Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan and Parliament Speaker Karen Demirchyan among them.
