Olive tree dedicated to Charles Aznavour in Israel
An olive tree was dedicated today in honor of Charles Aznavour in Neve Shalom village in Israel, Chancellor at Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem Hovnan Baghdasaryan reported on his Facebook page. According to the message, Aznavour was given this honor because Aznavourian family saved many Jews during the Holocaust.
It is about noted about the research and book by Prof. Yair Oron about the humanitarian act of Aznavourian family.
To note, French Armenian singing legend Charles Aznavour was honoured in Israel on Thursday for his family's efforts to protect Jews and others persecuted by the Nazis during World War II.
The singer received the Raoul Wallenberg Award from Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, which is named for the Swedish diplomat who helped thousands of Jews flee Nazi-controlled Hungary during World War II.
