French Ambassador hosted at Erebuni Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve
The French –Armenian cultural cooperation will advance in 2018 not only through the festive events dedicated to Erebuni-Yerevan 2800th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Erebuni Museum but also with the 17th summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie to be held in Yerevan, the newly appointed Ambassador of France to Armenian Jonathan Lacote stated on Saturday.
The Ambassador was hosted today at Erebuni Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve, where he toured the Erebuni Fortress accompanied by the Head of the Reserve Museum, got familiarized with the displays of the permanent exhibition and shared his impressions in the Guest Book of the Museum.
As the Museum-Reserve reported in a release, Ambassador Lacote pointed with proud to the French contribution to the excavations of the Erebuni Fortress, recalling the year-long cooperation between the Museum and the French Embassy.
To note, Erebuni Fortress also known as Arin Berd is a Urartian fortified city, located in Yerevan, Armenia. It is 1,017 metres above sea level. It was one of several fortresses built along the northern Urartian border and was one of the most important political, economic and cultural centers of the vast kingdom. The name Yerevan itself is derived from Erebuni.
