Armenia’s permanent population on the decline
As of October 1, 2017, Armenia’s permanent population stood at 2 million 979.6 thousand, with 1 million 898.8 thousand people living in the cities of the country and 1 million 080.8 people residing in rural communities.
According to the statistics released by the National Statistical Service, capital city Yerevan has 1 million 076.6 thousand population.
To note, as of January 1, 2017, the permanent population of Armenia was estimated at 2 million 986.1 thousand. According to the data, the number of urban population stood at 1 million 901.4 thousand and rural population – at 1 million 084.7 thousand.
