The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Armenia announced today an intent to introduce an additional emergence call service “122” in parallel with the existing “911” to ensure the application and coverage of the service throughout the Eurasian continent.
As the ministry said in a press statement, the service “112” is widely used and recognizable in the countries of the European Union, in the territory of Russia, most of the Asian countries and its introduction by Armenia is aimed at standardization of emergency calling systems in line with the technical criteria of the European Emergency Number Association.
The service will be useful especially for tourists visiting Armenia who can use the service in case of an emergency, said the source.
