
Armenia’s economic activity up 5.1%, prime minister says
Armenia’s economic activity index grew by 5.1% in January-September of this year, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan told a news conference on Thursday, summing up his one year in office.
According to him, the indicated period saw an 11.9% increase in the industrial output volumes. Meantime, trade turnover increased by 12.5%, service volumes – by 12.5%, electricity production – by 6.5%, foreign trade turnover – by 21.7%, with exports rising 19.1% and imports – 23.2%.
The average monthly salary rose by 2.4% in January-September of 2017, the PM added.
Mr. Karapetyan noted in parallel to the mentioned growth, gross agricultural output volume declined by 9.9% and construction volumes by 6.4% in Armenia in the indicated period.
