No obstacle for signing the Armenia-EU agreement – deputy foreign minister
The implementation of Armenia’s foreign policy course will be aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict based on the fundamental principles and norms of the international law, in particular, the right of people to self-determination, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan stated on Friday during the debates on the draft law of the country’s 2018 budget.
In the deputy minister’s words, efforts will be aimed at strengthening the external security and military-political component, the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide as well as the future prevention of the Crime of Genocide.
“We will continue the work in our bilateral relations. The multilateral cooperation will advance in different directions, including through the active participation in the EAEU, deepening of the cooperation within the CSTO, in the CIS and the comprehensive partnership with the EU. Works aimed at more active involvement in international organizations such UN, Council of Europe and OSCE will be carried out,” Kocharyan said.
Responding to concerns voiced by the lawmakers whether obstacles exist for the signing of the Armenia-EU comprehensive agreement, Kocharyan replied: “We see no obstacle for signing the new Armenia-EU agreement on November 24.”
