Armenian parliament speaker hosts newly appointed French ambassador
“We are thankful to France for the efforts aimed at peacefully settling this conflict. There is no alternative to the recognition of the Artsakh people’s right to self-determination,” Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly (NA), Ara Babloyan said today at the meeting with newly appointed French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacôte.
According to the parliament’s press service, the Armenian official highlighted the importance of the impact of the French culture, literature and language on Armenia, in this context attaching importance to holding the Summit of the Francophonie International Organization in 2018 in our country. Ara Babloyan stated that Armenia seeks to develop and deepen the cooperation with France in all spheres: educational, cultural, health care and others.
In the parliament speaker’s words, the events connected with France are under the spotlight of the Armenian National Assembly, and especially the NA Armenia-France Friendship Group.
Ara Babloyan expressed his support to the newly appointed Ambassador in assisting the programs directed to the deepening of Armenia-France relations.
Mr. Jonathan Lacôte thanked the parliament speaker for the reception, noting that it is a great honor for him to present France in Armenia.
The Ambassador touched upon the 25th anniversary of the establishment of France-Armenia diplomatic relations and highlighted the holding of the Summit of the Francophonie International Organization scheduled for Armenia next year.
He observed the holding of the Summit in Armenia as an important event from all viewpoints for the two countries, which will allow to consolidate the member states of the organization over common humanitarian ideas.
Jonathan Lacôte also referred to the creation and development of the new cultural and educational centers, taking into consideration the interest towards the French educational centers.
