European Team Chess Championship: Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sargissian awarded with board prizes
Two Armenian chess players, Levon Aronian and Gabriel Sargissian, have stood out with their strong performances at the European Team Chess Championship 2017 held in Crete, Greece, being awarded with individual prizes (medals).
According to the National Olympic Committee, GM Aronian scored 4,5 out of 7 points in front of Board 1, leaving behind Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and David Navara.
Another Armenian player Gabriel Sargissian came the second at Board 3, collecting 6,5 out of 9 points, with Russia’s Nikita Vitiugov leading the board. Polish player Kacper Piorun took the third spot.
