Gyumri to host “Empowering Regions Through High-Tech” forum first time
Armenia’s second largest city will host on November 17-18 “Empowering Regions Through High-Tech” forum which is organized in the scope of “Support to SME Development in Armenia” (SMEDA) project, co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Bagrat Yengibaryan, the Head of Enterprise Incubator Foundation, one of the organizers of the forum, announced at a press conference on Wednesday that the forum is aimed at elaborating the possibility of development of Armenia’s marzes through technology. “The success of Gyumri Technology Center demonstrates that it is not a dream but a reality, and it is quite realistic to develop high-tech in regions throughout the country,” Yengibaryan stated, adding the event will enable the government, the private sector, and donor organizations to assess the issues of raising the competitiveness of the marzes.
The forum is aimed at Identifying opportunities and challenges from education to business, determining the role of the government in creation of business environment in the regions, presenting successful experience of Shirak region in the processes of high technology, engineering and education related fields, promoting business environment development in the regions as well as encourage networking, knowledge exchange among young people from all Armenian regions and tech communities in Armenia.
In Yengibaryan’s words some 140 young people from all regions of Armenia will gather in Gyumri to present their community development projects, get familiarized with the success story of Gyumri Technology Center as well as attend workshops by leading local and foreign IT experts.
The conference will launch on November 17 with 3 panel discussions: “Business Environment Support”, “Main challenges from Education to Business” and “Technological Education”.
