Matthew Bryza: Karabakh conflict example of absolute US-Russia co-op
The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and fight against terrorism have become an example of absolute cooperation between the United States and Russia, Matthew Bryza, former co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, said Thursday.
“We have completely opposite views on the conflict in Georgia [South Ossetia and the Abkhazia conflict], but at the same time, we are absolutely cooperating over Nagorno-Karabakh and the fight against terrorism,” he told RIA news agency.
The US diplomat also addressed the US sanctions imposed on Russia, adding Russian political system fails to change.
“I think many believe after Ukraine Russia will act more aggressively against the Baltic states if the country is not forced to pay for it now. And the sanctions may play a role in this respect, however it is still early to talk about it,” he remarked.
