FIDE Grand Prix 2017: Aronian continues to hold the lead
All the nine games of the fifth round of the final stage of the FIDE Grand Prix 2017 series have ended in a draw in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
According to the National Olympic Committee, Armenian GM Levon Aronian was competing with Ding Liren of China, having defeated the latter at the FIDE World Chess Cup Final in Tbilisi.
After five rounds, Aronian is solely leading the table with 3.5 points, with six chess players closely trailing the Armenian chess star.
Levon Aronian is set to face Russian Peter Svidler with white pieces at the six round of the chess tour scheduled for 22 November.
The chess battles will determine the two winners of the series – participants of the FIDE Candidates tournament.
