Highways trafficable in Armenia: ministry
All the roadways across the territory of Armenia are trafficable as of 11:30am Yerevan time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Armenia is under the influence of a powerful cyclone zone from early morning of November 22 with precipitations predicted in all regions of the republic. According to the source, precipitations in the form of snow are expected in Shirak, Gegharkunik, Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Lori, Tavush and Syunik mountainous regions. Snowstorm, low visibility and clear ice on the roads of the mentioned sections are expected.
The roadways in Aragats, Aparan (Aragatsotn region), Chambarak (Gegharkunik region), Vanadzor, Spitak (Lori region), Hrazdan, Charentsavan (Kotayk region), Dilijan (Tavush region), Jermuk (Vayots Dzor region), as well as Saravan-Zanger highway have been hit by snow since morning.
The ministry warns the drivers to use exclusively winter tires on those roads.
Georgia’s Emergency Situations Department reports that Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for trucks.
