Expert: Azerbaijan concerned over Iranian FM’s statement made in Yerevan
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s statement made during his Yerevan visit has caused anxiety in Azerbaijan, Armenian expert on Iranian studies told a news conference on Wednesday.
Vardan Voskanyan detailed the talk is about the statement made by the Iranian minister saying Armenia is taking efforts towards settling the issues peacefully in the region.
“The Azerbaijani side is assessing such a statement as an indirect suggestion that the destabilizer of the situation in the region is Azerbaijan,” he added.
Voskanyan considers Azerbaijan's concerns as grounded given Iran’s relations with Armenia and the rules of ethics used by the Iranian diplomats who are prone to make indirect statements.
“All this is done through the language of hints. This was an extremely important message,” he highlighted.
To note, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif paid a visit to Armenia on Tuesday at the invitation of his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian.
