EU envoy for the South Caucasus visiting Yerevan
The newly appointed EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar is visiting Yerevan. As the press department at the foreign ministry reported in a press statement, the EU envoy was received by FM Eduard Nalbandian. Nalbandian congratulate Toivo Klaar on assuming the post and wished him success in contributing to the settlement of the existing issues in the framework of his mandate.
According to the release, the parties discussed issues related to Armenia-EU relations and stressed the importance of signing the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement concluded days ago in Brussels which will serve as a firm basis for further strengthening and deepening of the Armenia-EU cooperation.
FM Nalbandian next presented Armenia’s approaches on the exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the joint efforts by Armenia and the Minsk Group Co-Chairs to that end.
In turn, Toivo Klaar thanked for the wishes and stated he takes his new position with utmost responsibility, reiterating the EU’s support for the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs efforts to solve the conflict through exclusively peaceful means.
The interlocutors exchanged views on urgent topics of regional and international agenda, the release said.
