Deputy PM calls the new Armenia-EU agreement ‘a major achievement’
“Armenia and the European Union have shared many pages throughout their history and today, we seek to create a new modern history of our relations,” the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ara Babloyan stated today at the parliamentary hearings on the topic “Armenia-EU: Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.”
“We do not aim to build those relations to the detriment of cooperation with third countries. Armenia never chooses to juxtapose the interests of friendly states. Quite the opposite, we have always strived to match those interests,” added Babloyan.
Touching upon the signing of the Agreement, the Speaker of the Parliament added: “The signed Agreement sets a serious basis to strengthen the political dialogue, continue the economic reforms, and establish European-Armenian common space of democracy. We have much to exchange with one another.”
Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Vache Gabrielyan, present at the hearings, noted the signing of the Agreement is a major achievement aimed at enhancement of the relations between Armenia and the EU states.
“The document contains compatibility with all obligations of Armenia and enables us to develop relations both within the Eurasian Union (EAEU) and Europe. The document is valued also from the international perspective, in terms of seeking and finding new formats of cooperation,” said Gabrielyan.
