Exhibition hosted by photographer Gagik Gasparyan opens in Yerevan
A photo exhibition hosted by photographer Gagik Gasparyan opened in Yerevan on Wednesday. The exhibition titled “Memory Loft” features some 50 photos of the author summing up entire decades.
The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of the photographer’s son Mush.
Art critic Evgenya Kalantaryan described the event as an opportunity to interact with beautiful moment-impressions. According to her, the exhibition is unique, with each photo standing as an episode in life, adding everyone above 30 can find his childhood memories in the images.
Speaking to Panorama.am, Gagik Gasparyan noted the exhibition was set to open earlier, however it was cancelled due to some issues.
“Tape photography is closer to my heart. Although I have the necessary techniques, tapes and papers are no longer used. Everything is easier today, but… I have selected 50 photos from my large archives. It was a difficult choice, I even had to remove such works as Senior Papagatto and the like from my list,” he said, adding the featured photos keep a balance between different styles.
Gasparyan’s photos are black and white, which, according to him, are more profound and expressive.
“It is easier to take color photos, but you need the right lighting to make a black and white image,” the photographer added.
