His Holiness Aram I rejects the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel
His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia rejected the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The Catholicos remarks came this morning both at the World General National Assembly of the Catholicosate, currently taking place in Antelias, and during his visit to the president of Lebanon H.E. General Michel Aoun, press department at the Catholicosate of Cilicia reported.
According to His Holiness, such a move may have negative repercussions in a volatile region of the Middle East and may jeopardize the peace process. Catholicos Aram I also emphasized the need to respect the legitimate rights of Palestinians and to preserve the rights of the three monotheistic religions in Jerusalem.
