Black ice takes hold on some roads in Armenia
There are icy roads in the territory of Armenia as of 3:00pm December 8. Namely, black ice has taken hold on some sections of Gavar, Martuni, Artik-Alagyaz, Vanadzor-Dilijan and Goris-Sisian highways, the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies reported.
Snowstorms and black ice are also reported in Vardenyants pass, with the heavy trucks recommended to avoid the area.
The road crews carry out cleaning works with chemical salt and sand around the clock.
The drivers are strictly recommended to use exclusively winter tires to avoid traffic jams and accidents.
All republican and interstate roads are open for traffic, the source added.
Georgia’s Emergency Situations Department reports that Stepantsminda-Lars highway is only open for light passenger vehicles as of 3:00pm.
