6.1 magnitude quake strikes eastern Iran
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake has hit Iran, some 53 kilometers northeast of the city of Kerman at a depth of 10 kilometers on Wednesday, Armenia’s National Service for Seismic Protection at the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported, adding the geographical coordinates of the tremor were northern latitude 30.770 and eastern longitude 57.280.
In the epicenter of the quake, which struck at about 01:41 local time, the tremor measured magnitude 8 points. There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.
A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck some 38 kilometers northeast of Kerman city on Tuesday, with the tremor measured magnitude 7-8 points in the epicentre.
