Armenia gains wonderful opportunities by signing new deal with EU – European official
By signing the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the European Union, Armenia gained a wonderful opportunity to expand the partnership with the EU and to implement reforms in a number of spheres, Albert Weiler, Chairman of the German-Armenian Forum said at today’s discussion on “Armenia serving as a bridge between the EEU and EU”.
“The agreement covers spheres which are important both for Armenia and the EU. We attach special importance to the dialogue among civil society. It is very important for civil society to engage more actively in decision-making processes. The public dialogue with the EU will contribute to it,” he said.
According to Albert Weiler, the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) is not directed against anyone. He reminded this has been repeatedly announced also by German Chancellor Angela Merkel. “Each country should decide itself how close to get to the EU,” the European official said.
Mr. Weiler underscored the German businessmen are expecting Armenia to have a safe economic environment with favorable tax terms. He expressed conviction a favorable atmosphere has already been formed in the country for foreign investments.
