SOAD statue to be placed in Lake Sevan
Sculptor Hayk Tokmajyan is working on a concrete statute of System of Down (SOAD), an Armenian-American heavy metal band, which is planned to be placed in Lake Sevan, beneath the water. In an interview with Panorama.am the sculpture said he has been working on the project for more than a year.
“We are intended to lower the work into Lake Sevan. Assembling such a large structure under the water is a huge technical challenge, it requires much time and financial recourses with remaining certain issues to be solved,” the sculptor said.
“I think we will manage to complete the work this year to attract the flow of tourists from around the world,” Tokmajyan said, recalling the latest concert by the rock band in the Republican Square in Yerevan and the vast attendance of the public.
In his words, the underwater statue may also attract divers from around the world.
