Armenian-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement planned to be ratified by Spring 2018, deputy foreign minister says
The Armenian side has started the ratification process of the new Armenian-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and it is planned to conclude the procedure by Spring 2018, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Karen Nazaryan stated on Tuesday at the 17th meeting of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee underway in Yerevan.
In Nazaryan’s words, the indicated period includes all the stages of the procedure, including the Constitutional Court review on the conformity of the agreement to the country’s Constitution.
To note, the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, signed on Nov 24, in Brussels, calls for “increasing the participation of the Republic of Armenia in policies, programs and agencies of the EU.” The document will require Armenia to meet EU economic and financial regulations and policies. It also calls for Armenia to join efforts in combating international terrorism, preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction, and promoting conflict resolution.
