Yerevan hosts Santa Claus charity race
Yerevan Municipality and the Yerevan Half Marathon team jointly with TriClub Yerevan and Repat Armenia Foundation have organized the New Year Run 2017 traditional charity and fun race in capital city Yerevan.
The event held under the slogan of “Run and Help” brought together many people dressed up as Santa Clauses, who overcame a 5km running distance through the central streets of the capital. Yerevan Municipality team, in participation of Maria Baraghamyan, an assistant to Yerevan mayor and Technology Management Center of Yerevan City CJSC, also took part in the charity event, the Municipality’s press office reported.
Participation fees will benefit the project aimed at supporting the Syrian-Armenian families.
The New Year Run began from the Republic Square.
The run was followed by a race walking through the same 5km long distance organized in cooperation with the Green Team Armenia and with the support of Radio Van.
The participants were provided with Santa clothes.
The winners were awarded with certificates and medals. The rest of the participants also received symbolic gifts and souvenirs.
