President Margvelashvili: Despite Armenia’s membership to EAEU and Georgia’s free trade with Europe, economic cooperation not weakened between the two countries
Despite good neighborly relations, both Armenia and Georgia have the opportunity to take more steps to further strengthen relations, President Margvelashvili of Georgia stated on Monday during the joint media statement with president of Armenia at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi.
"We have spoken about reaching stability and development in the region and we have agreed to solve each and every complex issue within the framework of international law and negotiations” said President Margvelashvili.
The Georgian president I formed the parties discussed the strategic engagement of our countries, both within the European Union and the Eurasian Union.
“Even though we have signed the Association Agreement with the EU and we benefit from free trade with Europe while Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Customs Union, this circumstance does not weaken the economic cooperation between our countries, but on the contrary. This year turnover between our countries, as well as the tourism indicator have been significantly increased,” said Margvelashvili, adding: “I could say that the visit of President Sargsyan to Georgia is another step forward, another attempt to reach the full potential of cooperation for the benefit of our peoples."
