70 Turkish soldiers hospitalized for suspected food poisoning
A total of 70 Turkish servicemen have been hospitalized in the country's southern Gaziantep province due to suspected food poisoning.
The soldiers' complaints at the 106th Artillery Regiment Command began following a dinner on 25 December, Ermenihaber reported citing Haberler.com Turkish media outlet.
The head of the Islahiye district said that there is no one with life-threatening condition, adding an investigation has been launched into the incident.
The incident came after a series of similar cases of apparent food poisoning at military bases in Turkey.
On May 23, more than 1,000 soldiers were hospitalized after suffering from poisoning symptoms at the First Infantry Training Battalion Command in the western province of Manisa, with one death reported.
Four days later, on 27 May, 70 soldiers suffering from similar symptoms were also hospitalized.
The latest poisoning cases were registered on June 16 and 19, with 69 and 8 Turkish soldiers hospitalized respectively following complaints of nausea and vomiting.
