Black ice coats some sections of Vardenyats pass
Black ice has reportedly taken hold on certain sections of Vardenyats pass as of 10:00am December 30, Armenia’s Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies reported, adding cleaning works with chemical salt and sand are underway in the area.
All interstate and republican roads in the territory of Armenia are passable, the source said.
The drivers are strictly recommended to use exclusively winter tires to avoid road traffic accidents, traffic jams and emergency situations.
The Roads Department of Georgia's Ministry of Infrastructures and Territorial Development reports that Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open only for light passenger vehicles as of 10:30am.
The roadway is currently closed for heavy trucks.
