1208 people hospitalized during New Year holiday - Ambulance Service
Armenian Ambulance Service received 6,582 calls in the New Year holidays’ period from December 31 to January 7, which is 466 more than in the indicated period last year, the Head of the Service Taguhi Stepanyan told a press conference on Tuesday, adding the increase in call numbers is conditioned with acute respiratory diseases.
As Stepanyan informed, 1208 people were hospitalized during the indicated period with the majority of cardiovascular, respiratory complaints as well as injuries. According to the head of the service no cases of food poisoning have been recorded over the recent years. “8 cases recorded this year were not poisoning but rather alcohol and food abuse or gastrointestinal disorders.”
Stepanyan next said 638 emergency calls recorded from December 31 to January 7 involved children: “189 children were hospitalized which is 44 more than last year. The calls involving children are mainly related to respiratory diseases,” Stepanyan said.
